A star in the 2022 u/19 cricket world cup campaign, Dewald Brewis has lit up the eyes of cricket fans all over South Africa with his sparkling performances on the biggest stage of youth cricket.

The u/19 world cup, won by India, was a stage that Brewis used to showcase his impressive abilities as a cricketer- with the bat as well as the ball.

‘ Baby AB ‘ , as he was nicknamed because of how similar his batting style is to South African legend AB De Villiers, was awarded player of the tournament by International cricket council ( ICC)

The starlet scored a total of 506 runs in 6 games with two centuries and three fifties at an average of 84.33, becoming the highest individual run score in a single u/19 world cup. The eighteen-year-old, who can turn a ball or two, also took 7 wickets.

His string of good performances not only caught the eye of fans, but of other notable individuals as well.

CSA acting Chief Executive Officer, Pholetsi Moseki, was full of praise for the youngster and the amount of work he has put into his game,

” Brevis’ has been very consistent, showing great talent in the preparations leading to the world cup and it has been great to see his brilliance throughout this tournament. We’re glad to see the hard work that this youngster and the team has put leading to the tournament is paying off.”

Moseki added, ” Breaking records at such a young age is a massive achievement, and we are excited to see him showcasing his talent in both the domestic and international set up in the future.”

Welsh cricket commentator and former English county cricketer, Alan Wilkins, also placed a heap of praise on Brivis’ batting abilities.

” It’s a almost as if he premeditates and says’ this bowler’s going to go’, He plays these audacious shots, he’s got touch, but he goes big down the ground. He’s a formidable force for South African cricket, and I think he’s going to go all the way.”

The promising cricketer, whose name is on everyone’s lips, will be in action In the CSA T20 challenge 2021/22 which kicked off Monday February 07, representing the momentum multiply Titans.
