Three women traffic officers have been arrested for corruption

It is understood that three female traffic officers aged 43, 44, and 45 were arrested on Saturday, by members of the Major Fraud Investigation. Officers allegedly stopped the truck between Hennenman and Kroonstad for a roadside inspection. They violated the Road Traffic Act by demanding R2,000 from truck driver instead of issuing a fine. The driver informed his employer of the arrangement. The latter immediately alerted the police. A trap operation was conducted which led to the arrest of three officers.
Free State Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (Hawks) Head, Major General Mokgadi Bokaba sends a message of thanks to the truck owner for reporting the crime. “Law enforcement officials need to know that the Hawks have a bird’s eye view of their operations. Whenever it accepts a bribe, it may be walking into a trap,” he warns.
