A man who allegedly killed his grandmother after accusing her of bewitching him has been sentenced to 20 years in prison by the Senwabarwana Magistrate's Court

It is alleged that Jack Selepe Kubyana a 30-year-old man, was sentenced to 20 years direct imprisonment by the District Court in Senwabarwana for the cruel and heinous act of murdering his 70-year-old grandmother, inside their home in Mohodi outside of Senwabarwana.

According to Limpopo Police Spokesperson Colonel Malesela Ledwaba, Mogwadi police responded to an incident where an elderly woman was attacked with a sharp object leading to her untimely death.

Colonel Malesela Ledwaba said investigations quickly focused on the deceased's grandson, who was nowhere to be found.

"The forensic examination, and the confession of Jack Kubyana paint a grim picture of the events leading to the death of the elderly woman.", he concluded.

The accused was sentenced yesterday. The court further held that the suspect was unfit to possess a firearm.
