Police have arrested a young man for the murder of his girlfriend
Police in Klerksdorp have reportedly arrested a 30-year-old man for the murder of his 25-year-old girlfriend yesterday.
The killer, the deceased and their friends were allegedly staying together at their friends' place in Brakspruit on the outskirts of Klerksdorp when the fight ensued.
The young woman allegedly attacked the young man and he retaliated by beating her until she fell to the ground. According to reports, the young woman was left lying on the floor and the roommate tried to wake her up when she returned, but noticed that she was not moving.
Then she warned friends and the young man. An ambulance and police were called and the victim was pronounced dead at the scene. A 30-year-old man has been arrested and charged with murder. He is expected to appear before the Klerksdorp Magistrates Court tomorrow.
The Provincial Commissioner of Police, Lieutenant General Sello Kwena, commended the police for their swift response, which led to the arrest. He urged community members to resolve their differences amicably to avoid violent situations like this.
