A 67-year-old man was arrested for killing his daughter's boyfriend

MAKWANE - On Friday, 16 June 2023 the Makwane police arrested a 67-year-old man from the Phahameng Section of Makwane Village in Qwaqwa who allegedly killed a 34-year-old man from the same village who is believed to be in a relationship with his daughter.
It's alleged that on 11 June 2023, at about 21:00, the young man left a certain tavern in the area and went to the house of his girlfriend, looking for her. She was not at home. Apparently, he was confronted, assaulted and beaten until he was taken to a local hospital for medical treatment. He succumbed to his injuries. A case of murder was opened after police were informed by the local hospital.
The preliminary investigations were conducted around the area and it was later established that the suspect was the father of his girlfriend. He is in custody and expected to appear before the Makwane Magistrate Court on Monday, 19 June 2023 charged with murder.
