It is reported that the couple woke up when a group of unknown men entered their bedroom on their farm between Frankfort and Heilbron.

The suspects overpowered the 78-year-old woman and her husband, who is 74-year-old, as well as an employee, aged 48, who stays with them in the house. They tied them up and ransacked the house, looking for money and firearms.

The criminals fled with household items, two handguns, a shotgun, and the farmer's Ford Ranger bakkie. The bakkie was found abandoned in a field, but the firearms are still missing.

No one was seriously injured. Police are investigating charges of house robbery, theft of a vehicle and theft of firearms.
